Surface Mount Traffic Spikes
SM38 & SM48
In some gated communities, it’s common for drivers to sneak in the wrong way, damaging the gate in their attempt to enter before it closes.
Roadshark International offers a solution with Surface Mount Traffic Spikes.
Blade height 4.25”
Model/Item# SM38 and SM48
If you are looking for Surface Mount spikes with a lower blade height, check out our TT (TigerTeeth) Models.
For shorter blade heights, check out our TT38 and TT48 models.
A Surface Mount Traffic Spike is a road (vehicle) barrier that sits on the ground, forming a highly visible means of controlling traffic flow into and out of an area. Our barriers are available in 38 and 48-inch segments. Our TigerTeeth TM model operates with similar features. The Roadshark SM and TT (TigerTeeth) models tear into tires to prevent vehicles from passing.
One-way traffic spike systems work great at arenas, state parks, schools, and other areas where one-way traffic control is needed; the barrier is excellent for unmanned areas. They can reduce manpower costs significantly.
Roadshark traffic spike barrier users can adjust the blades to be less aggressive. This allows for a “phase in” period for motorists at new installations. Customers can adjust the thickness of the internal rubber bumpers and lower the blade height if required. Patent pending.
Our Proprietary Lochdown Mechanism is easy to use, and blades can be locked down in less than a minute. If Roadshark’s competitors have this type of feature, it may work in their showroom, but good luck in the corrosive, dirty environment of the real world! No special tools are required to purchase. Patent pending.
Reinforced Axles prevent blades from bending or twisting. Axles and blades are coated with high visibility yellow nylon coating (which outlives galvanizing and powder coating by 10 times). Patent pending.
No rust polyurethane coatings and stainless-steel fasteners. The top plate of Roadshark barriers is held down with stainless steel bolts that will not rust or stain the surface of the barriers. The polyurethane finish will not wear off like powder coating and reduces operating noise.
Roadshark installers can adjust the size and number of torsion springs to achieve the required tension (upward force on the blades).
Roadshark barriers can go months without needing cleaning. They use one axle per unit, which reduces the number of springs needed and the amount of maintenance required. Some of Roadshark’s competitors use multiple springs for every 1 or 2 blades, which requires continuous maintenance as springs fail. Cleaning can be done in as little as 5 minutes per segment.
The strength and design of Roadshark’s springs result in less maintenance, with springs lasting over 100,000+ cycles. (50,000 vehicles) Springs can last several months or even years; replacement is normally done in under 10 minutes.
Internal rubber bumpers reduce operating noise and increase the life of barrier components.
Roadshark’s barriers are built to last and will give you years of trouble-free operation. Some of our barriers currently installed in the U.S. experience over 2000 vehicles per day and are reliable where our competitors have failed.
